Book Reviews—Djibouti, by Elmore Leonard

I recently finished this enjoyable novel by 85 year-old Leonard that included: an attractive filmmaker doing a documentary on Middle East pirates; her 6’6″ 72 year-old black sidekick (who takes “Goat Weed” to assist his sexual prowess); a Texas billionaire sporting a Holland and Holland elephant gun sailing on his $2 million yacht with his hot girlfriend; Al Qaida operatives; an LNG tanker that’s the focus of attention; and a black American Muslim terrorist who kills anyone who knows his real name. It’s got non-graphic sex (the regular kind and the gay kind), multiple murders, great dialog, and a crazy plot…but rather than write my own review, here are three links that give a pretty complete perspective:

Review by Richard Rayner, Los Angels Times.

Review by David Kamp, The New York Times.

Review by Robert Croan, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Can’t wait for the movie.
