This article in the New York Times starts with a question: “Who, since the time of Jesus and his apostles, has brought more people to Christianity than anybody else?” It never quite suggests that C.S. Lewis is the correct answer, but it does point out his immense popularity long after his death in 1963, the same day President Kennedy was shot.

I have found his books remarkable—beautifully written, sometimes humorous, and reflecting intelligent orthodoxy.
